Product Description
Lifeline® Normal Human Bronchial/Tracheal Epithelial Cells (HBTEC) are Primary Cells, directly cultured from their source organ tissue to help ensure valid outcomes. Primary Cells come from a wide variety of donors without the accumulated mutations found in immortal cell lines.
Primary Bronchial/Tracheal Epithelial Cells, when grown in Lifeline BronchiaLife™ Airway Epithelial Medium, provide an ideal serum-free culture model for the study of respiratory infection, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cystic fibrosis, response to inflammation, and the damaging effects of smoking. BronchiaLife is composed and supplemented to maximize the life expectancy of Primary Airway Epithelial Cells.
HBTEC are cryopreserved after primary culture to ensure the highest viability and plating efficiency. Cells are isolated from human bronchi/trachea and expanded once in culture vessels before being harvested for cryopreservation.
Primary Bronchial/Tracheal Epithelial Cells are cultured without retinoic acid and not exposed to antimicrobials or phenol red when cultured in BronchiaLife medium, an advantage since these supplements can cause cell stress and “masking effects” that may negatively impact experimental results. Our HBTEC are quality tested in BronchiaLife Medium to ensure optimal growth over a period of at least 15 population doublings at rates equal to or greater than other commercially available media.
